What prevents someone from signing off the bank lien on their title themselves and selling you their vehicle? I am going to purchase a motorcycle today. The person selling the motorcycle informed me Friday that they needed to make sure to get home early enough for the bank to sign off on the title or we wouldn't be able to make the transaction on Saturday. I got a hold of him later in the day and when asked if he got the secured interest signed off on the title, he told me that they told him once I get there, as long as it's cash, he can take it over to the bank owner's house and the bank owner will sign off on the title. It is a small town and I understand that things like this happen frequently in smaller towns, but it still sounds kind of fishy to me. What I'm basically wondering is this...is it possible for him to sign off on the secured interest himself, sell me the bike and then me find out later that I bought a bike that still has money owed on it by another party? What prevents this from commonly happening and people getting ripped off. What do you think, should I buy the bike? Thanks in advance! car insurance. Auto parts : > Clutch Kit Mitsubishi 2007. Daewoo . How to Remove Rust Scale From a Gas Tank InteriorRust can affect every part of a vehicle, and when it hits the gas tank, you can have some big problems. If rusted metal goes into your fuel system, it can ruin fuel filters, pumps and even the motor itself. Removing rust scale from inside the tank takes some odd tactics, but you can do the work in an afternoon. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets Flathead screwdriver 2-foot-long chain Metal wash product Etching product Gas tank sealing kit Step by Step : 1 Unbolt the gas tank from the rear of the vehicle using the 3/8-inch ratchet for the straps and a flat-head screwdriver for the hoses. If there is still fuel in the tank, pour it into a gas can or dispose of it properly. 2 Place the chain inside the gas tank, and pick it up to shake it. The chain bouncing around on the inside of the gas tank will loosen the flaky rust from the inside of the tank, which will get the loose stuff out of the way. 3 Pour out the flaky rust scale that the chain loosened from the tank and remove the chain. 4 Pour the metal wash product into the tank. This is going to clean up the surface of the tank and prepare it for etching. Twist the tank around so that the product can coat all of the surfaces. Pour out any excess metal wash. 5 Pour the etching product into the tank and allow it to work. You want to twist the tank around so that the product can coat all of the surfaces. 6 Pour the gas tank sealer into the tank, and roll the tank around so the sealer can contact all surfaces. This is going to coat the inside of the tank and allow it to stay rust-free for a long period of time. 7 Allow the gas tank sealer to dry according to the directions on the package. Then the tank is ready to be used again. ResourcesEastwood Gas Tank Sealer kitEastwood Rust Converter
Daewoo . How to Remove a Lincoln Town Car Gas TankThe fuel tank on your Lincoln Town Car will need to be removed for service if you have detected a leak, physical damage or contamination. It is a job you can do yourself following some safety precautions and using a few common tools. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Wrench Shop rags Small screwdriver Approved fuel container, if necessary Hand siphon pump Lug wrench Floor jack and jack stand Ratchet and socket Ratchet extension New fuel-tank mounting studs and nutsRelieving Fuel Pressure Step by Step : 1 Detach the black, negative battery cable, using a wrench. 2 Remove the fuel filler cap. 3 Open the hood and remove the cover from the top of the engine using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. 4 Locate the Schrader valve near the end of the fuel rail and remove the cap. This valve is similar to an air valve on a tire. 5 Wrap a couple of shop rags around the Schrader valve and depress the valve stem using a small screwdriver as you catch the squirt of fuel with the shop rags. This will depressurize the fuel system. Reinstall the valve cap. Removing the Fuel Tank Step by Step : 1 Disable the air suspension by turning the switch off. The switch is located inside the luggage compartment. If necessary, consult your car owner's manual. 2 Drain the fuel tank through the fuel filler pipe into an approved container, if necessary, using a hand siphon pump. 3 Disconnect the filler pipe from the car body by unscrewing the three mounting bolts under the filler lid using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. 4 Loosen the wheel lugs from the rear left hand wheel using a lug wrench. 5 Lift the rear left hand tire off the ground using a floor jack and support your Town Car on a jack stand. 6 Finish removing the wheel and tire assembly. 7 Unhook the vapor-recirculation tube connector from the hose leading to the tank. Press the lock tabs on the connector fitting to release the tube. 8 Unscrew the filler-tube retainer bracket near the fuel tank using a ratchet and socket. 9 Push the filler pipe into the tank just enough to gain some clearance. Then rotate the pipe half a turn counterclockwise and remove it from the fuel tank. On some models, you might have to remove the tank strap first, using a ratchet and socket, to gain full access to the filler pipe. Step by Step : 10 Unplug the fuel pump electrical connector. Step by Step : 11 Disconnect the fuel lines by pressing the lock tabs to release the fittings. Step by Step : 12 Locate the vapor tube on the right hand side of the fuel tank and disconnect it from the tee, plastic connector. Step by Step : 13 Follow the vapor tube to the canister tube and disconnect it by pressing the lock tabs. Step by Step : 14 Support the fuel tank with the floor jack and release the fuel tank by unscrewing the mounting nuts using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. Step by Step : 15 Lower the tank carefully and remove the studs from the tank. Then remove the tank from the vehicle. Installing the Fuel Tank Step by Step : 1 Install new studs on the fuel tank. Then place the tank under the vehicle and support it on the floor jack. 2 Raise the fuel tank to its installed position and use new mounting nuts to secure the tank to the car's under body. Use the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. 3 Connect the vapor tube to the canister tube and the tee, plastic connector. 4 Connect the fuel lines and plug the fuel pump electrical connector. 5 Install the filler tube in the tank and attach the tank strap if you had to remove it using the ratchet and socket. 6 Screw the filler-tube retainer bracket using the ratchet and socket. 7 Hook the vapor recirculation tube to the tank. 8 Install the wheel/tire assembly and the wheel lugs. 9 Lower the car. Step by Step : 10 Finish tightening the wheel lugs using the lug wrench. Step by Step : 11 Screw the top of the fuel filler pipe to the car's body using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. Then install the fuel filler cap. Step by Step : 12 Refill the fuel tank. Step by Step : 13 Engage the air suspension by turning the switch on. Step by Step : 14 Turn the ignition switch to the On position to pressurize the fuel system. Then check for fuel leaks. Step by Step : 15 Attach the black, negative battery cable using a wrench. *Pick out friendly-looking salespeople and ask them what kinds of tools they buy. Most of them are auto enthusiasts who will be delighted that you're planning to do your own work (and be a future customer), and they'll be happy to point out the best buys. Buying everything at once isn't necessary to get started on your car; use the beg, borrow, and steal-from-the-family-toolbox methods if you must. The important thing is to get to work! Screwdrivers There are two basic types of screwdrivers: standard, or slot, screwdrivers (the most common type) and Phillips screwdrivers. The difference between a standard screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver is the shape of the head, as shown in Figures 2-1 and 2-2. You use Phillips screwdrivers with Phillips screws, and standard screwdrivers with — you guessed it — standard screws. Using a screwdriver of the wrong type or size can damage the screw, the screwdriver, and even you if your hand slips while you're struggling to use 150

Because you usually can't use a standard screwdriver on a Phillips screw or vice versa (except for some Phillips/slot head screws that can be tightened or loosened by a standard blade type or Phillips head screwdriver), and because your car is fitted with both types of screws in a variety of sizes, you need several of each type (not just for your vehicle, but for almost anything around the house). Shafts vary in length too, which is useful because a longer shaft provides greater access to "buried" screws, while a shorter shaft gets into tight places more easily. Handles also vary. It's important to have large, easy-to-grip handles to help you loosen tight screws. You can get all the screwdrivers you need for relatively little money. Look for sales on plastic- or rubber-handled screwdrivers in sets of varying sizes. .Chapter 2: The Way to Your Car's Heart Is through Your Toolbox Figure 2-1: Standard screws and screwdrivers. You need a couple of different kinds in different sizes. There are several basic types of wrenches, some for very specialized purposes, but the following sections cover the kinds you need for most jobs. Look for sets made by well-known toolmakers, and try to buy them on sale. (For more pointers on buying tools, see the beginning of this chapter.) The turning of the screw Daewoo .
